Position Statement

With the rapidly changing technological landscape in a competitive environment, we shall need to take an innovative, proactive, collaborative and impactful approach leveraging technologies and transdisciplinary framework empowered by AI and Generative AI.

With my rich experiences in serving ComSoc in different capacities, and my strong commitments to technical excellence as well as diversity and inclusion, I am confident that, as MAL, I shall be able to serve our ComSoc community effectively in areas such as: 

  • Support our technical communities (i.e., TCs, ICs, ETIs) to be more impactful within and outside ComSoc.
  • Promote industry participation by broadening and strengthening the linkages to industry through new collaborative programs while also addressing the needs of the research community.
  • Help more junior researchers, engineers, and students from all continents by creating regional and local young professionals and students technical exchange platforms.
  • Connect and participate at International Initiatives and make visible and impactful contributions.

Biography 

Fawzi is the president of TelNet Management Consulting Inc. offering professional services in the areas of communications technology and ecosystem solutions. He is a part-time lecturer at Texas State School of Engineering - Capstone Senior Design program.

Fawzi is distinguished Lecturer and keynote speaker. He organized/chaired several conferences, had several publications, and co-authored book “Collaborative IoT for Future Smart Connected Life and Business”. 

In 2020, Fawzi chaired ComSoc AdHoc implementation subcommittee and made recommendations on industry reengagement used in WCNC 2022. Fawzi was appointed as NA Regional Director and BoG member (2020-2021, 2022-2023) where he introduced Chapter Vitality Health check system and developed Virtual Distinguished program across ComSoc. In 2024, Fawzi was appointed Director of ComSoc and Chair of Future Networks Technical Community. At IEEE level, Fawzi was appointed on IEEE Conference Committee (2022-2024).

Fawzi received several awards from Industry and IEEE. Fawzi received master’s in computer science and MBA.
