Position Statement

Through my 30 years’ volunteer activities with IEEE communication society at different management levels (Chapter, North American Region and BoG), I fully understand what our members need and how Comsoc should improve toward that. My technical background and administrative skills combined with my commitment and enthusiasm enable me to work closely with other Comsoc colleagues to best serve our members. If elected, I shall

Reduce cost and bureaucracy to add benefits/value to our Comsoc members, work together with industrial leaders to bring disruptive technical development to our local members with career development.

Ensure ComSoc’s initiatives, activities, conferences/workshops/seminars match the needs of our members.

Engage and empower the members/local officers so they can contribute their best efforts toward the advancement of Communications Society, creating new incentive program for local leaders.

Attract more members from other fields on top of the traditional communication sector by broadening the participation of young members.

Biography 

Dr. Zhensheng Zhang, IEEE Fellow, received his Ph. D. in EE from UCLA, has over 30 years’ experience in research and development of the communication networks. He has worked at Boeing, Bell Laboratories, AT&T/Lucent Technologies, and Columbia University, respectively, focusing on research and development in wireless networks. He has published over 100 technical papers in IEEE Journals and key IEEE conferences (one paper was listed as the top 10 most reading articles from IEEE Communications Society website in 2007). He has been very actively involved in Comsoc in the last 30 years, with various leadership roles: Director, Membership Service 2016-2017, Chapter Chair for ten years (Chapter of the Year Award in 2013), Section Chair 2021, IEEE Globecom 2012 TPC Chair; He received the IEEE Comsoc Exceptional Service Award in 2009 and 2020, Comsoc Board of Governors, Member at Large, 2021-23. He gave a keynote at the IEEE LATINCOM 2013.
