Pre-University STEM Education Updates

Pre-University STEM Education Grants Awarded

Each year, the TryEngineering group within IEEE administers the STEM Portal Grant Program to facilitate the delivery of STEM outreach activities around the globe. This financial support to IEEE volunteers enables them to develop new STEM programs or enhance (or maintain) existing programs. These grant funded activities engage younger students throughout the world in educational activities helping them to learn more about STEM. In 2024, IEEE ComSoc is proud to again provide significant funding to support these grant activities. Of the 53 grant programs selected for awards, ComSoc funding will be used to support 8 of those programs.  View the news announcement and full list of ComSoc funded grants.

IEEE WIE Manga Stories 2024 banner

Manga Comics Series of Riko-Chan

In an effort to address prevailing gender disparity and promote gender diversity, IEEE Women-in-Engineering (WIE), with the support of the IEEE Japan Council and the IEEE New Initiative Committee, curated a compelling Manga story competition in 2023. The initiative aimed to explore the narratives of Riko-Chan, a bright young girl brimming with enthusiasm for solving everyday challenges using the engaging tools of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)! The winning stories have been transformed into Manga comics through Maruzen Yushodo Co. These Manga comics are available for free download.

The catalytic impact of these highly inspirational stories will endure beyond the publication of the initial set of six winning stories. These Manga stories aim to educate the youth, particularly girls, on the significance of pursuing STEM subjects. To ensure the longevity of this program and expand its reach, we warmly welcome support from organizations whose visions align with ours and encourage collaborations with other organizational units within IEEE.
