2023 Member-at-Large - Latin America/North America Region Candidate

Position Statement

ComSoc plays a crucial role advancing communication technologies. I have been actively involved in ComSoc, serving as the director of the Industry Outreach Board, general co-chair of 2023 PIMRC, vice general chair of WCNC 2022, organizing various workshops and panels in IEEE flagship conferences. I have also served as a guest editor for several special journal issues. I benefit greatly from ComSoc, and are keen to volunteer my experience and time to make ComSoc even more valuable for both Academia and Industry. If elected as the Member-at-Large, I will work together with you to:

  1. Continue promoting the membership in Industry. Encouraging more active involvement of industries to bridge the gap between Academia researches and industry applications.
  2. Promoting more programs to help young professionals to seek career development opportunities in industry.
  3. Ensure ComSoc is an inclusive and balanced community in terms of gender, race, region, and profession.

Biography 

Dr. Peiying Zhu, Senior Vice President of Wireless Research, is a Huawei Fellow, IEEE Fellow and Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering. She is currently leading 6G wireless research and standardization in Huawei. The focus of her research is advanced radio access technologies. She is actively involved in 3GPP and IEEE 802 standards development. She has been regularly giving talks and panel discussions on 5G/6G vision and enabling technologies. She led the team to contribute significantly to 5G technologies and standardization. Many technologies developed by the team have been adopted into 5G standards and implemented in 5G products. She served as the guest editor for IEEE Signal processing magazine special issue on the 5G revolution and IEEE JSAC on Deployment Issues and Performance Challenges for 5G.

Prior to joining Huawei in 2009, Peiying was a Nortel Fellow and Director of Advanced Wireless Access Technology in the Nortel Wireless Technology Lab.
