IEEE ComSoc Best Readings

The IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief (EiC) for ComSoc Best Readings (BR) for a two-year term starting on June 1, 2022. The term is renewable for up to additional two years.

The ComSoc BR is a collection of prominent books, archival papers, overview articles, journal/magazine special issues on a featured topic in communications and networking which is published online.  This collection is done by an editorial team appointed by the EiC. The objective of BR is to promote publications and innovations in new technologies, concepts, and principles in information and communications technology for the benefit of researchers and practitioners in our community.

Nominee:

The nominee must be a member in good standing of IEEE ComSoc. They are expected to have IEEE editorial experience. Desirable qualities include excellence in:  technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills; and a strong vision and set of ideas for moving the BR forward. Applicants will be considered for this position without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation.

The duties of the EiC include, among others, identifying the topics and the competent editors for the corresponding topics, interacting with the editors, initiating and monitoring the selection process of the publications for the BR, interacting with the OCB on matters related to the BR, maintaining the intellectual integrity and technical rigor of the BR.

The EiC will report to the Director of Online Content, ComSoc, and is expected to participate in the ComSoc OCB meetings. The term of service will be from 06/01/2022 to 05/31/2024 and be renewable for up to additional two years.

Nominations should include:

  1. Names of candidate and nominator (self-nominations are possible).
  2. A brief biography of the nominee of no more than one page which includes information on nominee’s editorial experience.
  3. Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the ComSoc BR and special qualifications for the position.
  4. The candidate’s full CV.

The elements of the nomination package should be combined as a single pdf file with the nominee’s CV appended at the end and a labeling clearly indicating the name of the nominee.
