The IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications (JSAC) for a two–year term starting on 1 January 2022. The term is renewable for two additional years.

Each issue of JSAC, managed by a team of Guest Editors, is devoted to a specific technical topic, and thus provides to JSAC readers a collection of up-to-date papers on that topic, selected through rigorous peer-review among manuscripts submitted in response to a specific Call for Papers. These issues are valuable to the research community and become valuable references. The technical topics covered by JSAC issues span the entire field of communications and networking.

Nominee:

The nominee must be a member in good standing of IEEE ComSoc. He/she must have extensive IEEE editorial experience. Desirable qualities include excellence in:  technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills; and a strong vision and set of ideas for moving the journal forward. Applicants will be considered for this position without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation.

The duties include interacting with prospective Guest Editors, receiving, reviewing and selecting proposals for Special Issues, scheduling issues, collaborating with the responsible editor(s) for any specific thematic series, identifying candidates for Senior Editors, ensuring that the Periodical follows the IEEE Policy and Procedures, preparing a report for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee (PRAC) when requested, executing the policies established by the Editorial Board, and maintaining the intellectual integrity, technical rigor, and timely operation of the journal.

The Editor-in-Chief will report to the ComSoc Director of Journals and Vice-President Publications. He/She will serve on and be a voting member of the ComSoc Journals Board. The Editor-in-Chief is expected to participate in the ComSoc Journals Board meetings during the ComSoc Publications Council meetings, and to organize/lead Editorial Board meetings at IEEE ICC and IEEE Globecom. The term of service will be from 01/01/2022 to 12/31/2023 and be renewable for up to additional two years.
