The IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) and the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) invite nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the journal IEEE Networking Letters (NL) for a two–year term starting on 1 January 2022. The term is renewable for two additional years.

NL is jointly sponsored by ComSoc and VTS and publishes short papers in a rapid publication cycle on original research results derived from theoretical or experimental exploration of the area of communication/computer networking, covering various information transport networks over various physical layer technologies, both wireline and wireless, or hybrids of these. The journal focuses on the network layers above the physical layer. Topics of interest include network architecture and design, protocols, network software, network hardware, network operation and management, measurements, and network security.

Nominee:

The nominee must be a member in good standing of ComSoc and/or VTS. He/she must have extensive IEEE editorial experience. Desirable qualities include excellence in technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills, and a strong vision and set of ideas for moving the journal forward. Applicants will be considered for this position without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation.

The duties include, among others, the interaction with authors, initiating and monitoring the review process to its completion, identifying candidates for Associate Editors, interacting with the Steering Committee on matters related to the journal management and development, ensuring that the Periodical follows the IEEE Policy and Procedures, preparing a report for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee (PRAC) when requested, the execution of the policies established by the Editorial Board, maintaining the intellectual integrity, technical rigor, and timely operation of the journal.

The Editor-in-Chief will report to the Steering Committee. He/She will serve on, and be a voting member of, the ComSoc Journals Board, will report annually to the VTS Board of Governors (BoG), and will be expected to organize/lead bi-annual Editorial Board meetings, to be held at the two ComSoc flagship conferences (IEEE ICC and GLOBECOM). He/She will also be invited to participate in the ComSoc Journals Board meetings during the ComSoc Publications Council meetings at ICC and GLOBECOM, and in the VTS BoG meeting at VTC Spring or Fall. The term of service will be from 01/01/2022 to 12/31/2023 and be renewable for up to two additional years.

Nominations must include:

  1.  Names of candidate and nominator (self-nominations are possible).
  2.  A brief biography of the nominee of no more than one page.
  3.  A summary statement of the candidate’s editorial experience, also including name(s) and contact information of EiCs who have worked with the candidate.
  4.  Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the journal and special qualifications for the position.
  5.  The candidate’s full CV.

The elements of the nomination package should be combined as a single pdf file with the nominee’s CV appended at the end and a labeling clearly indicating the name of the nominee.
