The IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Transactions on Communications (TCOM) for a two–year term starting on 1 January 2024. The term is renewable for up to additional two years.

IEEE TCOM publishes high-quality papers reporting theoretical and experimental advances in the general area of communications. It is committed to provide a timely and rigorous peer-review process for all submitted papers. IEEE TCOM has a broad scope spanning several areas such as wireless communications, wired communications, and optical communications.

Nominee:

The candidate must be a member in good standing of IEEE ComSoc. He/she should be a leader internationally recognized in the ComSoc community and have a broad perspective on the field of communications. The candidate must have commendable editorial experience, diversified technical expertise, the vision to lead an editorial team to identify hot and important topics, and attract high-quality articles in communications research and engineering practices. Other required qualities include integrity and ethical standards, and organizational and management skills. Applicants will be considered for this position without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation.

The duties include, among others, the interaction with authors and the editorial board, initiating and monitoring the review process to its completion, identifying candidates for Editors, Area Editors, Editors-at-Large, and Senior Editors, ensuring that the Periodical follows the IEEE Policy and Procedures, preparing a report for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee (PRAC), executing the policies established by the Editorial Board, as well as maintaining the intellectual integrity, technical rigor, and timely operation of the journal.

The Editor-in-Chief will report to the IEEE ComSoc Director of Journals and Vice-President Publications. He/She will serve on and be a voting member of the IEEE ComSoc Publications Council. The Editor-in-Chief is expected to participate in the IEEE ComSoc Publications Council meetings and organize/lead Editorial Board meetings at IEEE ICC and IEEE Globecom.

Nominations should include:

  1.  Names of candidate and nominator (self-nominations are possible).
  2.  A brief biography of the nominee of no more than one page.
  3.  A summary statement of the candidate’s editorial experience, also including name(s) and contact information of EiCs who have worked with the candidate
  4.  Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the new journal and special qualifications for the position.
  5. The candidate’s full CV.

The elements of the nomination package should be combined as a single pdf file with the nominee’s CV appended at the end and a labeling clearly indicating the name of the nominee.
