The IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking (TGCN) for a two–year term starting on August 1, 2022. The term is renewable for up to additional two years.

TGCN is jointly sponsored by IEEE ComSoc, the IEEE Signal Processing Society and the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society. Its goal is to advance and promote significant technology advances in green communications and networks including wireline, optical, and wireless communications and networks. Green communications and networking in this context means sustainable, energy-efficient, energy-aware, and environmentally aware communications and networking. The journal promotes innovations, new technologies, concepts, and principles toward a sustainable information and communications technology. Topics of interest include but are not limited to: green wireline, optical, and wireless communications and networks; network and physical layer design, strategies, algorithms, protocols, and scheduling that consider environmental factors; energy-efficient and  energy-aware heterogeneous networks, self-organized, and low-power sensor networks; energy efficiency in machine-to-machine communications, cooperative communications, and  smart grid networks;  energy harvesting, storage, and recycling for network cross-layer optimization; environmentally-aware designs of communications and networking devices and systems; and communications and networking for environmental protection monitoring.

Nominee:

The nominee must be a member in good standing of IEEE ComSoc. He/she must have extensive IEEE editorial experience. Desirable qualities include excellence in:  technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills; and a strong vision and set of ideas for moving the journal forward. Applicants will be considered for this position without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation.

The duties include, among others, the interaction with authors, initiating and monitoring the review process to its completion, identifying candidates for Associate Editors, interacting with the Steering Committee on matters related to the journal management and development, ensuring that the Periodical follows the IEEE Policy and Procedures, preparing a report for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee (PRAC) when requested, the execution of the policies established by the Editorial Board, maintaining the intellectual integrity, technical rigor, and timely operation of the journal.

The Editor-in-Chief will report to the Steering Committee. He/She will serve on and be a voting member of the ComSoc Journals Board. The Editor-in-Chief is expected to participate in the ComSoc Journals Board meetings during the ComSoc Publications Council meetings, and to organize/lead Editorial Board meetings at least at IEEE ICC and IEEE Globecom. The term of service will be from 08/01/2022 to 07/31/2024 and be renewable for up to additional two years.

Nominations must include:

  1. Names of candidate and nominator (self-nominations are possible).
  2. A brief biography of the nominee of no more than one page.
  3. A summary statement of the candidate’s editorial experience, also including name(s) and contact information of EiCs who have worked with the candidate.
  4. Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the journal and special qualifications for the position.
  5. The candidate’s full CV.

The elements of the nomination package should be combined as a single pdf file with the nominee’s CV appended at the end and a labeling clearly indicating the name of the nominee.
