IEEE Wireless Communications Letters (WCL) invites applications/nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for a two–year term starting on 1 January 2024. The term is renewable for up to additional two years.

IEEE WCL is jointly sponsored by IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Signal Processing Society, and IEEE Vehicular Technology Society. It publishes shorter, high-quality manuscripts on advances in the state-of-the-art of wireless communications, and considers both theoretical contributions (including new techniques, concepts, and analyses) and practical contributions (including system experiments and prototypes, and new applications). This journal focuses on the physical layer and the link layer of wireless communication systems.

Eligibility and qualification:

The candidate should be a leader internationally recognized in the wireless community and have a broad perspective on wireless communications. The candidate must have commendable editorial experience and diversified technical expertise, have the vision to lead an editorial team to identify hot and important topics, and attract high-quality articles in wireless communications research and engineering practices. Since the journal demands fast turn-around time, the candidate should have enough flexible time committed to handling papers timely, be able to assemble a responsive editorial team, work closely with them, and shepherd them for timely and high-quality reviews, ensuring conformance to the IEEE publication guidelines. Moreover, the candidate should work closely with the Steering Committee on matters related to journal management and development, ensuring that the Periodical follows the IEEE Policy and Procedures, preparing a report for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee (PRAC) when requested, executing the policies established by the Editorial Board, and maintaining the intellectual integrity, technical rigor, and timely operation of the journal. Finally, the candidate must have a broad vision for the journal on how to improve the submissions, the quality of the review process, and the editorial decision-making process, and thus elevate the stature of this journal.

Selection process:

The steering committee of this journal will carefully evaluate all candidates and select the best suitable candidate. All applicants will be considered without attention to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, or political affiliation. The appointment of the final candidate as the EiC will be approved by the Presidents of three sponsoring societies.

Application:

Applications/Nominations must include:

  1.  Names of candidate and nominator (self-nominations are possible).
  2.  A brief biography of the nominee of no more than one page.
  3.  A summary statement of the candidate’s editorial experience, also including name(s) and contact information of EiCs who have worked with the candidate.
  4.  Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the journal and special qualifications for the position.
  5.  The candidate’s full CV.

The elements of the nomination package should be combined as a single pdf file with the nominee’s CV appended at the end and clearly indicating the name of the nominee.

Please submit nominations by 15 June 2023 via email to: my.fang@cityu.edu.hk.

Further questions may be directed to Michael Fang, Chair of the Steering Committee, IEEE Wireless Communications Letters.
