The IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the journal IEEE Communication Letters for a two–year term starting on 1 January 2020. The term is renewable for an additional two years.

The IEEE Communications Letters publishes short papers in a rapid publication cycle on advances in the state-of-the-art of communication over different media and channels including wire, underground, waveguide, optical fiber, and storage channels. Both theoretical contributions (including new techniques, concepts, and analyses) and practical contributions (including system experiments and prototypes, and new applications) are encouraged. This journal focuses on the physical layer and the link layer of communication systems.

Nominee
The nominee must be a member in good standing of IEEE ComSoc. He/she must have extensive editorial experience. Desirable qualities include: solid technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills, and a strong vision and set of ideas for moving the journal forward.

The duties include the interaction with authors, initiating and monitoring the review process to its completion, identifying candidates for Associate Editors and members of the Editorial Board, ensuring that the Periodical follows the IEEE Policy and Procedures, preparing a report for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee (PRAC), the execution of the policies established by the Editorial Board, maintaining the intellectual integrity and timeliness of the journal.

The Editor-in-Chief will report to the ComSoc Director of Journals and Vice-President Publications. He/She will serve on and be a voting member of the ComSoc Publications Council. The Editor-in-Chief is expected to participate in ComSoc Publications Council meetings and organize Editorial Board meetings at IEEE ICC and IEEE Globecom. The term of service will be from 01/01/20 to 12/31/2021 and be renewable for up to additional two years.

Nominations must include:

  1. Name of candidate and nominator (self-nominations are possible).
  2. A brief biography of the nominee of no more than one page.
  3. A summary statement of the candidate’s editorial experience.
  4. Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the journal and special qualifications for the position.
  5. The candidate’s full CV.
  6. The elements of the nomination package should be combined as a single pdf file with the nominee’s CV appended at the end and a labeling clearly indicating the name of the nominee.
