IEEE Communications Standards Magazine is jointly co-sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Vehicular Technology Society. It is administrated by the CommStandards Steering Committee, whose current members are: Andrzej Jajszczyk, Alex Gelman, Osman Gebizlioglu, James Irvine, Steve Gorshe (Chair) and Michael Fang (Director of Magazines, non-voting member).

Communications Standards has been in publication since 2016, after having been incubated as a supplement within IEEE Communications Magazine.

The CommStandards Steering Committee invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Communications Standards Magazine for a two–year term starting on 2 September 2019. The selected candidate is expected to assume the roles and responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief including the selection of associate editors, governance of the entire editorial board, and ensuring that the standards of the magazine are sustained. The period of service will be two years, renewable for one additional one-year term.

The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for appointing Editorial Board members, setting goals, updating topical areas, overseeing the review process, handling appeals, and handling cases of plagiarism among other topics.

Eligibility: Must have both substantial experience in communications standards and a strong record in IEEE publications editor role(s). It is expected that the candidate will be a member of IEEE Communications Society. The ideal candidate is well respected in the field, is known for ethics and integrity, and has demonstrated management skills.

Selection Process: The steering committee will accept nominations for the EIC position until 15 June 2019. Based on a holistic evaluation of all EIC candidates, a ranked short list will be generated, and the final selected candidate will be passed to the ComSoc Publication Council for approval and then to the ComSoc President in consultation with VTS President to make the appointment.

Nomination/Application Process: Please email Steve Gorshe a letter of interest including qualifications (and CV) of the candidate, a list of editorial experiences and the candidate statement for the EiC position. Self-nomination is allowed. If you have any question or concern for the nomination process, please contact any member of the CommStandards Steering Committee from the website.
