The IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the new journal IEEE Open Journal of the Communications Society (OJCS) for a two–year term starting on 1 October 2019. The term of service can be renewable for up to additional two years.

OJCS is the new Plan-S-compliant Gold Open Access Journal of IEEE ComSoc and will start operation in Fall 2019. OJCS will offer a rapid review cycle for high quality articles covering all aspects of communications and networking.

Nominee
The nominee must be a member in good standing of IEEE ComSoc. He/she must have extensive IEEE editorial experience. Desirable qualities include: solid technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills, and a strong vision and set of ideas for establishing the new journal and moving it forward.

The duties include setting up the new journal, establishing an Editorial Board, interacting with authors, initiating and monitoring the review process to its completion, identifying candidates for Editors and  Area Editors, ensuring that the Periodical follows the IEEE Policy and Procedures, preparing a report for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee (PRAC), the execution of the policies established by the Editorial Board, maintaining the intellectual integrity and timeliness of the journal.

The Editor-in-Chief will report to the ComSoc Director of Journals and Vice-President Publications. He/She will serve on and be a voting member of the IEEE ComSoc Publications Council. The Editor-in-Chief is expected to participate in IEEE ComSoc Publications Council meetings and organize/lead Editorial Board meetings at IEEE ICC and IEEE Globecom.

Nominations should include:

  1. Names of candidate and nominator (self-nominations are possible).
  2. A brief biography of the nominee of no more than one page.
  3. A summary statement of the candidate’s editorial experience.
  4. Statement of interest of up to 500 words stating the nominee’s vision for the new journal and special qualifications for the position.
  5. The candidate’s full CV.
  6. The elements of the nomination package should be combined as a single pdf file with the nominee’s CV appended at the end and a labeling clearly indicating the name of the nominee.
