The IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the journal IEEE Transactions on Molecular, Biological, and Multi-Scale Communications (TMBMC) for a two–year term starting on October 1, 2018.

IEEE TMBMC is a new journal that was launched in 2015, and the Editor-in-Chief is expected to play a major role in its further development.

Official scope:

IEEE TMBMC is devoted to the principles, design, and analysis of communication systems that use physics beyond classical electromagnetism, including but not limited to molecular, quantum, chemical and biological techniques, as well as new communication techniques across multiple scales (e.g. nano to micro to macro). Original research articles on one or more of the following topics are within scope: mathematical modeling, information/communication and network theoretic analysis, standardization and industrial applications, and analytical or experimental studies on communication processes or networks in biology. As the boundaries between communication, sensing, and control are blurred in these novel signaling systems, research contributions in a variety of areas are invited. Contributions on related topics may also be considered for publication, and researchers outside the IEEE’s typical audience are strongly encouraged to participate, since communication is a fundamental part of any multi-element system, human-engineered or natural.

Nominee:

The nominee must be a member in good standing of IEEE ComSoc. He/she must have extensive editorial experience. Desirable qualities include: solid technical accomplishments, leadership, integrity and ethical standards, organizational and management skills, and a strong vision and set of ideas for moving the journal forward.

The duties include the interaction with authors, initiating and monitoring the review process to its completion, identifying candidates for Associate Editors and members of the Editorial Board, ensuring that the Periodical follows the IEEE Policy and Procedures, preparing a report for the IEEE Periodicals Review and Advisory Committee (PRAC), the execution of the policies established by the Editorial Board, maintaining the intellectual integrity and timeliness of the journal. It is anticipated that special issues will form an integral part of the journal in this formative stage; thus, the fostering of editorial teams to manage such special issues is also of importance.

The Editor-in-Chief will report to the IEEE ComSoc Director of Journals and Vice-President Publications. He/She will serve on and be a voting member of the IEEE ComSoc Publications Council. The Editor-in-Chief is expected to participate in IEEE ComSoc Publications Council meetings and organize IEEE TMBMC Editorial Board meetings at IEEE ICC in the Spring and IEEE GLOBECOM in the Fall. The terms of service will be from 10/1/2018 to 09/30/2020 and be renewable for up to additional two years.

Please submit nominations by July 15, 2018 to:
