Bin Xiao

Dr. Bin Xiao is a full Professor at Department of Computing, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. Dr. Xiao received the B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in Electronics Engineering from Fudan University, China, and Ph.D. degree in computer science from University of Texas at Dallas, USA. After his Ph.D. graduation, he joined the Department of Computing of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University as an Assistant Professor. 

Dr. Xiao’s research interests include AI and network security, data privacy, and blockchain systems. He published more than 180 technical papers in international top journals and conferences. His h-index is 43 with 7,000+ Google citations. Currently, he is the associate editor of IEEE TCC, IEEE TNSE, IEEE IoTJ. He has been the associate editor of Elsevier JPDC from 2016 to 2021. He served as the special issue guest editor of IEEE TNSE for the topic of Security and Privacy for AI Models and Applications in 2021. He has been the vice chair of IEEE ComSoc CISTC committee from 2020 to 2023. He served as the track co-chair of security, privacy, and trust in distributed systems in IEEE ICDCS 2022. He was the CISS symposium track co-chair in IEEE ICC 2020, GLOBECOM 2017, the general chair of IEEE SECON 2018, and the AHSN symposium track co-chair in IEEE ICC 2018. He has been the TPC member of many top conferences, e.g., IEEE INFOCOM, ICDCS, IPDPS, ACM AsiaCCS. Dr. Xiao is a recipient of the best paper award from IEEE/IFIP EUC 2011 and the faculty research grant award in 2022. He is an IEEE ComSoc Distinguished Lecturer 2023-2024, and a senior member of the IEEE.
