Edith C.H. Ngai

Edith Ngai is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, The University of Hong Kong. Before joining HKU in 2020, she was an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Technology at Uppsala University, Sweden. She was also a guest researcher at Ericsson Research Sweden from 2015 to 2017. Her research interests include Internet-of-Things, machine learning, data analytics, and smart cities. She was a VINNMER Fellow (2009) awarded by Swedish Governmental Research Funding Agency VINNOVA. She served as a program chair of ACM womENcourage 2015 and a TPC co-chair in IEEE SmartCity 2015, IEEE ISSNIP 2015, ICNC 2018 Network Algorithm and Performance Evaluation Symposium, IEEE GreenCom 2022, and IEEE APSCON 2023 Smart City track. She was an Area Editor of the IEEE Internet of Things Journal (2020-2022). She is an Associate Editor in Ad Hoc Networks, IEEE Access, and IEEE Transactions of Industrial Informatics. She was a project leader of the “Green IoT” in Sweden, which was named on IVA's 100-list by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences in 2020. She is one of the HKU scholars in the top 1% worldwide by citations in 2021 and 2022. She received a Meta Policy Research Award in Asia Pacific in 2022. She is listed as one of the IEEE N²Women Stars in Computer Networking and Communications in 2022.
