Stefano Giordano at RCCC in Rome 2023

Pre-University Program at IEEE ICC 2023, Rome, Italy

The ComSoc Working Group on Pre-University STEM Education continues its outreach to share information about this newer program within the Society.  As a part of this outreach, members of the Working Group organized and participated in two events at IEEE ICC 2023 in Rome, Italy.  ComSoc Pre-University Working Group Member Stefano Giordano shared information about the ComSoc Pre-University Education Program during the Regional Chapter Chairs Congress.  With 25 attendees from 20 different Chapters present, Stefano discussed the various ways to get involved locally in Pre-University activities and the resources that are available through ComSoc and IEEE to support those activities.

In addition, Stefano worked with fellow Pre-University Working Group Member and the Chair of ComSoc Young Professionals to organize the iYES education track on 31 May that featured a Session on “Pre-University WG Activities and Experiences” and a Panel on "Sharing experiences in starting & running Pre-U activities."  Steve Izzo of the ComSoc Pre-University Working Group also shared a video presentation about ComSoc’s program in this area.

Call for Proposals for 2024 ComSoc School Series Events

Since 2015, the IEEE Communications Society has hosted an official international school series event each year where student members can participate in unique experiences to learn about the latest technological developments in key areas of communications.

The IEEE ComSoc School Series is designed exclusively for ComSoc student members and features lectures by international experts, poster presentations, site visits, and hands-on demos on a range of fundamental to advanced and hot topics in communications.  The typical duration of an IEEE ComSoc School Series event is 3 to 5 days and can be either in-person or virtual (online only).

We are now accepting proposals through 31 August 2023 for both in-person and virtual events for the 2024 IEEE ComSoc School Series Program.  For 2024, ComSoc is planning to support two in-person events and two virtual events through this program.

We invite you to submit a proposal for a 2024 event now. Please use the proposal guide to create your proposal and include as much information as possible.  Submit your proposal here no later than 31 August.
