The IEEE ComSoc 5G Virtual School is completely online, much of what you can complete at your own pace.  Included with this offering is the popular, live IEEE ComSoc Training course “5G New Radio, A New Standard and Industry Update” which will be delivered online via WebEx on 29 January 2020 by industry expert Jonathan Levine.

5G New Radio, A New Standard and Industry Update Course Description

As industry moves toward accelerated 5G deployments, it is necessary for all players involved to have a good idea of what is on the horizon for initial 5G deployments. In this half-day course, the instructor will describe the general 5G architecture change from 4G, providing an overview of what technical enhancements are included in the recently published (Dec 2017) 3GPP 5G-NR Standard and the associated work currently taking place in the wireless industry. The focus of this course is to provide insights into the opportunities enabled by this standard in an easy to understand reference for business strategy. If you are looking to understand what is defined in the 3GPP Standard and how that relates to the ITU definition for 5G, this course will clarify that for you.

Who Should Participate

Students, practicing/young professionals, and anyone with general wireless experience seeking to gain an overall picture of the 5G landscape.  A basic understanding of mobile networks and in particular the 4G LTE network architecture and functions will enable a better understanding of the 5G concepts.

Course Materials

For the 5G New Radio, A New Standard and Industry Update course on 29 January, a copy of the instructor's PowerPoint slides will be emailed to registered participants 1 business day in advance of the course date.  WebEx invitation for the live course session on 29 January will be emailed to participants 1 business day in advance of the course date.  Access to the streaming video recording of this live course is provided for 15 business days after the course has been taught. 0.3 IEEE Continuing Education Units are available for this live course upon completion of the post-course evaluation. 

CEUs / Certificate

• All who register for this school will receive a Certificate of Participation for IEEE ComSoc 5G Virtual School by the end of January in their email.
• Optional 0.3 CEUs will be available for the ComSoc Training course, 5G New Radio, A New Standard and Industry Update, which will be taking place live, online on 29 January.  IEEE CEUs are included with this course but in order to qualify for the CEUs, the participant needs to complete all of the fields in the evaluation form provided after the live course session.
• 1 CEU / 1 PDH is available at an additional cost for each of the two SDN on-demand modules.

Course Cancellation and Refund Policy: Due to the on-demand nature of this offering, requests for registration cancellations and refunds cannot be accommodated.
