Eiji Oki

Eiji Oki is a Professor at Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan. He received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in instrumentation engineering and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Keio University, Yokohama, Japan, in 1991, 1993, and 1999, respectively. He was with Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) Laboratories, Tokyo, from 1993 to 2008, and The University of Electro-Communications, Tokyo, from 2008 to 2017. From 2000 to 2001, he was a Visiting Scholar at Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, NY, USA. He joined Kyoto University, Japan, in 2017. He has been active in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and has authored/contributed to twelve IETF RFCs. He has authored/co-authored nine books on the areas of networking and optimization. His research interests include routing, switching, protocols, optimization, and traffic engineering in communication and information networks. He is a Fellow of IEEE and IEICE. 

He severs/served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, an Editor for Optical Switching and Networking, Elsevier, an Editor for Computer Communications and Networks, Springer, and an Associate Editor for IEICE Transactions on Communications. He has served as a Guest Editor for IEEE JSAC (2014), IEEE Communications Magazine (2008), IEEE TNSM (2021 and 2022), OSN (2016), IJNM (2023), IEICE (2011, 2014, and 2023), and JCN (2007). He has served as TPC/Symposium /General Co-Chair for international conferences, including IEEE ICC 2018 and 2011, IEEE Globecom 2013 and 2018, IEEE NetSoft 2021, IEEE HPSR 2006, 2010, 2012, 2015, and 2016, NOC 2014, RNDM 2015 and iPOP 2009, 2014, 2015, and 2019-2023.

Professor Oki was the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the 1999 and 2022 IEICE Excellent Paper Awards, the 2001 IEEE Communications Society Asia-Pacific Outstanding Young Researcher Award, the 2010 Telecom System Technology Prize by the Telecommunications Advanced Foundation, the IEEE High Performance Switching and Routing (HPSR) Paper Awards in 2012, 2014, and 2019, the 2015 IEICE Achievement Award, the IEEE Globecom 2015 Best Paper Award, the 2016 Fabio Neri Best Paper Award Runner Up in Optical Switching and Networking, Elsevier, the Excellent Paper Award of 2019 Information and Communication Technology on Convergence, and IEEE ICC 2023 Best Paper Award.
