Hang Guo
Microsoft, USA

Dr. Hang Guo is currently a Software Engineer at Microsoft. He works in the cloud-based supply-chain platform that allows different participants of the supply chain to share data with each other and run cloud-based applications from software vendors on top of the shared data, to improve visibility across supply chain, and enable optimization of supply-chain operations. Prior to Microsoft, he received his Ph.D in computer science from University of Southern California where he proposed new techniques to detect Internet-of-Thing (IoT) devices that could potentially be used to launch Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks; proposed a new algorithm to detect rate limiting to Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) probing, which helps network and security researcher to avoid being distorted by rate limiting; contributed to the effective use of AI/ML (artificial intelligence/machine learning) models in detecting Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks in production environment; and proposed and prototyped a system that mitigates DDoS attacks launched from IoT devices in a home network.
