Call for Papers

Vehicular networking has been envisioned as promising approaches to facilitating road safety and traffic management, where each vehicle (or referred to as On-board unit (OBU)) is allowed to communicate with each other as well as with Roadside units (RSUs), which are located in some critical sections of the road, such as a traffic light and a stop sign. In vehicular networks, a variety of vehicle applications are enabled by communication between vehicles and infrastructure deployed along roadside (or RSUs). Examples of applications are the notifications of emergency situations, such as car accidents or bad weather conditions.

This Series Topic (ST) would provide a viable venue to share ongoing efforts to advance vehicular communications and networking technologies from the perspective of standardization and project practice, as well as discuss technical challenges and directions for vehicular networking. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • Vehicle communication systems standard
  • Vehicle applications
  • Intelligent transportation system architecture and standards
  • Vehicle to grid communication standards
  • Standardization aspects of security and privacy in vehicular networking
  • Legal issues for vehicular networking
