Call for Articles

The Internet of Things Magazine (IoTM) publishes high-quality articles on IoT technology and end-to-end IoT solutions. IoTM articles are written by and for practitioners and researchers interested in practice and applications, and selected to represent the depth and breadth of the state of the art. The technical focus of IoTM is the multi-disciplinary, systems nature of IoT solutions. IoTM is the top forum for practitioners to share experiences, develop best practices, and establish guiding principles for technical, operational and business success.

The recent accelerated internet penetration and proliferation of connected devices across the globe drives another intelligent technology “Internet of Everything (IoE)” which connects the people, process, data and things. IoE has transformed our understanding of “connected things” defined by the machine to machine (M2M), machine to human (M2H) and technology-assisted people-to-people (P2P) communications and created unprecedented opportunities for organizations, individuals, communities, and countries to realize dramatically greater value from networked connections.

Conventional modeling paradigms can be useless due to several reasons such as complexity, existence of uncertainties, and the stochastic nature of the processes. Intelligent sensing, embedded internet, edge computing and predictive data mining permeate intelligence and decision making into the physical world which continually shape engineering applications and enhance human experience in real-time.

Intelligence is the ability to learn about, to learn from, to understand about and interact with one’s environment. Computational intelligence (CI) or soft computing focuses on the ability of natural (and potentially artificial) agents to behave intelligently. It encompasses the theory, design, application, and development of biologically and linguistically motivated computational paradigms combining elements of learning, adaptation, evolution and fuzzy logic. These algorithms tend to approximate and generalize the answer to very hard problems which leads to very low-robust solutions. The primary objective of CI is to supplement natural intelligence to produce human-competitive results.

The aim of this Special Issue (SI) is to provide researchers and practitioners working on Computational Intelligence technologies for IoT systems a means to share experiences and disseminate successful applications of IoT technologies and identify recent trends and opportunities poised to revolutionize the IoT industry. We invite the latest works pertaining to the design and application of CI algorithms to solve complex real-world problems associated to the IoE. It covers a wide range of applications from data analytics, pattern recognition, software and system modeling, to intelligent control problems and biomedical applications.

Topic of Interest include, but not limited to:

  • Computational Intelligence in Cyber Physical Systems
  • Computational Intelligence in Internet of Things, Internet of Service
