Rath Vannithamby [F] received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in EE from the University of Toronto, Canada. He is a senior research scientist in Intel Labs, Intel Corporation, USA responsible for next-gen wireless systems research. He is a three times recipient of the Intel Top Inventor a:ward, in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Previously, he was a researcher at Ericsson, USA. He is an IEEE Fellow. He was an IEEE Communications Society Distinguished Lecturer during 2014–2017. He has published over 75 journal/conference papers and has over 300 patents granted/pending. He is an editor of three books on 5G. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Internet of Things Magazine. He has served as an associate editor for the journal IEEE Communications Surveys and Tutorials and IEEE Internet of Things Journal in the past. He served as a co-chair for Globecom 2020 Workshops and ICC 2022 Tutorials. He will be the vice-chair for Globecom 2025 IP&E. He has co-chaired several workshops on 5G and IoT in IEEE ICC and Globecom conferences. He has given tutorials and hosted panels on 3G/4G/5G/6G topics in numerous venues at IEEE conferences. His research interests are in the area of NextG wireless systems including, AI for Wireless, Joint Communication and Sensing, Task Oriented Communications, IoT, and Edge networking.
